I have formed a new (very small) company, Plato Grande Software, which has purchased the rights to ImageViewer. Until further notice, orders will continue to be processed by Zedcor, Inc.. There have been bug fixes and NEW features added between version 4.33 and 4.40
･The password method has been changed! The new method requires a username in order to generate a password. Registered users will submit a username and a password will be generated to continue using ImageViewer. Please make a note of the username and password for future reference.
･"Delete File" has been changed to "Move File To Trash" and the command key has been changed from command-D to command-H. This eliminates the danger asociated with deleting files directly and also removes the need for warning alerts.
･A new folder named ImageViewerｪ is created in the folder or volume where ImageViewer is launched(generally, this will be the ImageViewer PPC or ImageViewer 68K folder). This folder will store data files such as the "Locations" file. Note: you can keep any number of locations files by renaming them, only the file named "Locations" will be used. In the future, there may be support for setting the locations data based on a list of files.
･An empty file list no longer causes the window to close. This was a common source of complaints, especially annoying when files were pending addition to the list.
･Animated GIF support. Can now read/write multiple image GIF files. Controls have been added to left of the horizontal scrollbar, which are enabled when there is more than one "frame" for the file. You can "play" the animated GIF, change direction, or skip through each particular frame. This feature is not complete and is recommended for viewing only, as operations like scaling won't be reflected properly throughout the entire list of images. Further, transparent display isn't currently supported, most likely, this will be added in future release.
･Movie Support. Can now read and play movie files (i.e. type 'MooV'). Movie files are incorporated into the overall file list and a movie window is shown when such files are current. An additional Window menu item appears for the movie window.
･QuickTime 2.5 Graphic Importer Support. If QT 2.5 is installed, some additional file types can be read: .SGI, 8BPS, PNTG, and qtif.
･Double-clicking an image from a list view now opens the image in a new window(single file list).
･After a Move or Move To Trash, the selected files are removed from the current list. Also, the new current file is based on the current direction.
･The Area should now display in centimeters rather than inches for metric based systems.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a crash if ordering wasn't name(build) and a new list was opened.
Fixed a crash when toggling to Gallery View.
**Fixed memory leak when creating icons. This could cause serious problems, especially when scrolling among many images and creating icons.**
Fixed a bug reading PICT files when the frame wasn't zero-based. Saving on these images might have caused a "skewed" effect.
Fixed a bug reading "vectored" PICT files where no depth was specified. Now defaults to 8-bit depth for these images.
Fixed a bug with initial toggle to list view resulting in an "undefined" gallery view.
File name ordering should now be correct for non-Roman based script systems.
When the file list was rebuilt(e.g. files were moved/deleted in the finder) the list views didn't update their information properly. Should work correctly.
Numerous other small bug fixes.
Future:
ImageViewer is starting to mature. I hope to have a new major release within 3 months.
Many new features are planned for the next release. The following are hilites:
1. Find. Search criterions for finding files and building sub-lists.
2. Saving/Opening File lists. In combination with searching capabilities, this will allow list customization for viewing.
2. Catalogs. Ability to form a list of files containing previews and information for display and searches.
3. Improved drag and drop. Dragging from one list window to another and dragging files from finder onto list window etc.
4. Customized ordering. The ability to arrange file ordering and save ordering data.
5. Interface improvements. Allow some customization of tool areas in window. Ability to hide/show various tool areas.
